The story

A shared regional framework can make connections visible without erasing differences between countries. This report draws on 3,073 respondents across seven countries to examine community relationships, mobility, participation, and attitudes towards violence and inclusion.

I led research design, analysis, and engagement and co-authored the report with colleagues. Its dedicated chapter on gender equality and diversity examines stereotypes and masculinities, connecting gender norms with wider development and cohesion questions rather than only comparing demographic groups.

A finding to take away

The gender chapter finds a larger gap in support for gender equality and diversity between younger women and men than between older women and men. These are cross-sectional age-group comparisons, not evidence that the same individuals changed their attitudes over time. The patterns invite more specific approaches than a single awareness campaign for everyone.

Authorship is on PDF page 2; the survey scope is on page 14 and the gender comparisons on pages 92-93. The report itself is dated December 2024, despite a later year in the hub’s listing.
