Professional experience

September 2023 - present / Nicosia, Cyprus

Director of Innovation and Research

SeeD Research Centre for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development

I oversee methodological quality and the practical relevance of SeeD's international research, supervise a team of around four researchers, and work with institutional partners throughout the project cycle. Since January 2026, I have also led the innovation and AI transformation agenda and chaired the Innovation Committee.

Three missions to Nairobi involved strategic engagement with UN agencies and regional donors to develop the East Africa portfolio, covering statistical research and new AI tools for peace and development. My work in this role also includes Caribbean SCORE, Somalia's Heshiis Beeg, digital systems, and research on family resilience and inclusion.

January 2022 - September 2023 / Nicosia, Cyprus

Head of Research and Operations

SeeD Research Centre for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development

I combined research quality and project delivery with day-to-day operational management covering around twenty people, including personnel and financial planning. I conducted and supervised statistical analysis in Python and R and worked with partners to interpret findings for programme decisions.

Selected work included the Ethiopian Peace Index, Moldova SCORE, and societal-healing research in Rwanda. Three missions to Kigali and Musanze combined research training and workshops with planning research and intervention timelines.

January 2018 - January 2022 / Nicosia, Cyprus

Head of Quantitative Analytics

SeeD Research Centre for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development

I managed survey research and statistical analysis across the SCORE portfolio, combining quantitative modelling with qualitative understanding of local conflict dynamics. Gender-disaggregated analysis, field missions, and institutional consultation connected the evidence with policy and programming.

This included analysis and reporting for Afghanistan, South Sudan, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, alongside field missions and engagement with UNICEF, UNDP, USAID, and OTI in Ukraine.

September 2017 - January 2018 / Nicosia, Cyprus

Data Analyst and Quantitative Researcher

SeeD Research Centre for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development

I contributed to questionnaire development and social-cohesion analysis, and replaced a largely manual SPSS workflow with an automated Python/R pipeline for ANOVA, repeated t-tests, structural equation modelling, regressions, and visualisation.

This early period also began my work on Gender SCORE Cyprus, a 2017-2018 study whose design, analysis, and engagement I led, including discussions in the UN Buffer Zone.

September 2016 - September 2017 / Ankara, Turkey

Youth Worker, Trainer and Teacher

Oyuncak Kütüphanesi and Meraklı Kedi Primary School

Through European Voluntary Service, with YEU Cyprus as the sending organisation, I worked with teachers and volunteers to organise community workshops and practical and life-skills activities. The placement also provided an opportunity to learn Turkish.

March 2016 - September 2016 / Nicosia, Cyprus

Media Researcher

Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with Near East University

I developed Python scripts to search tens of thousands of newspaper articles in a bicommunal study of representations of Syrian refugees. Keyword associations, statistical text analysis, and visualisations helped investigate narratives and reporting biases across Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot media.

September 2015 - March 2016 / Perth, Australia

Visiting Researcher, X-ray Astronomy

Curtin University / International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research

During a visiting research scholarship, I developed scripts for Chandra telescope observations and learned astronomical methods and CIAO software. I presented findings to the department; the work contributed to two further proposals accepted for funding and subsequently to a co-authored journal paper.
