When a countryโs future is discussed as a choice between opposing blocs, citizens with mixed or less categorical preferences can disappear from view. This brief uses the 2022 SCORE survey to investigate those combinations during a period of regional upheaval.
A finding to take away
The analysis identifies four profiles of geopolitical preferences, rather than reducing the public to two opposing camps. That is a starting point for understanding differences and finding room for less divisive conversations, not a forecast of political behaviour.
The right-bank survey covered 2,336 respondents, including a nationally representative sample of 1,991 adults and targeted additional samples. I led underlying study design with colleagues whom I supervised and co-authored this brief. The separately commissioned Transnistria report is not part of its findings or sample.
