The story
The pilot brings together evidence from 808 citizens, 101 traditional leaders, and 101 local administrators in three regions of southern Ethiopia. The framework connects peacefulness with wellbeing, livelihoods, and inclusion.
I designed the tool with a supervised team and led analysis and report writing, including the Gender Equality chapter. Hierarchical regression examined factors associated with support for equality alongside financial empowerment, domestic abuse, and social norms. Kebele administrators and traditional leaders were distinct respondent groups, not additional citizen interviews.
A finding to take away
The report finds that mental wellbeing, food security, gender attitudes, and peacefulness are interlinked with wider family, community, and institutional conditions. Its central message is to examine those systems together rather than treating each issue in isolation.
This is a three-region pilot, not a national estimate. The executive summary is on PDF pages 8-9; the report credits my contributions and those of colleagues on page 89 (printed page 87).
